Our distributed teams allow Edmentum to supplement its development staff and scale up or down as backlogs fluctuate.
Edmentum is a global education leader and pioneer in online teaching and learning solutions. Over 8,000 school districts across 75 countries use Edmentum’s adaptive curriculum and research-based assessments to address a variety of educational goals and challenges. These include individualized learning, intervention, expanded course offerings, and even state assessment preparation and credit recovery. Edmentum’s suite of solutions relies heavily on a robust backend software system — and a lot of development resources. As is often the case when scouting top-tier technical talent, Edmentum found it difficult to fully staff its development teams. The company utilized contractors and offshore teams to supplement its internal development staff.
After experiences with other offshore vendors yielded less than desirable results, Edmentum sought a new partner. The Edmentum team came to MentorMate looking for access to a flexible workforce that could scale up or down with its business needs. Specifically, they were looking for highly-skilled developers that could join existing sprints and integrate seamlessly into the company’s team structure. Our team members’ technical proficiency, English fluency, and overlapping work hours have allowed us to deliver on that need.
At any given time, multiple sprint teams of internal Edmentum development staff and MentorMate employees in Bulgaria are working through backlogs. Each team is focused on a specific Edmentum offering and is continuously enhancing the product. As the backlog evolves, Edmentum staffs the team accordingly without having to go through an arduous hiring — or downsizing — process. The Edmentum leadership team lets us know what specific skill sets they need for a given initiative and we’re able to match them with the appropriate MentorMate staff member.
